JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Teachers – Infant/Toddler (Early Head Start)

 

Higher Horizons is seeking experienced Infant/Toddler Teacher Assistants to join our Early Head Start Programs in Falls Church, VA.  Our organization provides family-centered services for low-income children and families and promotes physical, cognitive, social and emotional development.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where young children can learn and grow.
  • Supervising and caring for infants and toddlers (6 weeks – 2.9 years), implementing age-appropriate curriculum in a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans based on the curriculum framework.
  • Monitor and assess each child’s progress and provide feedback to parents.
  • Maintain accurate records of each child’s attendance, behavior and developmental milestones.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, standard protocols, and program policies and procedures.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or associates degree in early childhood education, child development or closely related field or a valid Infant/Toddler CDA® credential, or a Career Studies Certificate in Infant/Toddler Care issued by an accredited Virginia community college.
  • No less than two years of successful experience working with infants and toddlers in a classroom setting.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching methods.
  • CPR/First Aid and MAT certifications preferred
  • Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards and Virginia Childcare Licensing Regulations, and Teaching Strategies GOLD®, Creative Curriculum®, CLASS® and ASQ’s a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Arabic or Amharic) a plus, but not required.

 

Salary and Benefits:

$17.86 – $21.03 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Education Manager – Early Head Start

 

Higher Horizons Early Head Start is seeking an experienced Education Manager to join our leadership team at the 7 Corners location in Falls Church, VA.  This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the early childhood education field, specializing in infant and toddler care and education.  If you are passionate and experienced about working in early child development, we encourage you to apply!

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of multiple classrooms and a home-based program, assuring regulatory and legal compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Supervision and monitoring of all education staff including infant/toddler teachers, floaters, substitutes, one home visitor, and a resource teacher assigned to the Early Head Start 7 Corners site.
  • Communicating with parents and the community.
  • Collaborate with other members of the leadership team and service area managers.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s or master’s in early childhood education or closely related field REQUIRED. Some coursework in educational leadership, administration, leadership or management preferred.
  • No less than two years of successful experience in an administrative, management or supervisory position in an early care and education setting.
  • Experience with research-based curriculums and accreditation preferred.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards and Virginia Childcare Licensing Regulations a plus.
  • Must exhibit strong organizational skills and strategic thinking.
  • Experience working with children and families of diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Must exhibit strong organizational and oral and written communication skills.

Salary and Benefits:

$59,924.80 – $67,932.00 annually (commensurate with experience) – salaried position
